Bodies of Water

Lake Annecy, located in France, is a breathtaking body of water that offers ample opportunities for swimming and various water sports. The lake is surrounded by mountains and adjacent parks with plenty of bike paths to explore. It's an ideal place to take a stroll with your family or furry friend as all stores are pet-friendly. For the ultimate experience, it is recommended to visit during the end of spring or summer when the weather is perfect for enjoying all that this magical place has to offer.

Beautiful lake with a stunning vista of the snow capped alps in the background. The water is clear and blue. A great place to take a leisurely stroll, but also seems a popular area for running or cycling around.

L M — Google review

My visit to the Lake was so amazing. Annecy is a beautiful and peaceful city. The Lake had amazing views and it was simply picturesque. The water was very clear and the rumours about the lake annecy having the cleanest water in Europe seemed true.As a tourist to Annecy you definitely have to visit the Lake. There are alot of beautiful places to take nice pictures and after having a fun time at the lake there are a lot of restaurants and bars around you have a meal or drink at very affordable prices.I will definitely be visiting again in the future as I love it so much my only challenge with the city is that it's very small so you there are no trains or trams to go around and I dont understand how the buses worked.

Babajide Esho — Google review

Super super bluish lake covered around with mountains. Must recommend to take a boat ride which is worth. You can viewthe alps from here in the boat ride.

Shweta Singh — Google review

It was raining therefore not a good time to visit this lake. However this place is amazing with great views and shining blue water.Great place to visit in summer time for boating and swimming!

Bhagyashree Sawant — Google review

Definitely you cannot visit France without visiting this place “lac d’Annecy”. It is a magic place with these unimaginable views. Here you can walk with your family, your dog… all of the stores are pet friendly. I prefer to visit this village in summer or in the end of spring because the weather is the most important thing to enjoy it till 100%. Also, behind the pics, there is a big park with grass to rest a bit.

Sara Ari?o — Google review

A beautiful lake with a view of the mountain peaks. Crystal clear blue water. A small port located by the lake. The lake is so clear that you can clearly see the mountains reflected in it.

Daniel Mazurkiewicz — Google review

Amazing lake with best city view!

Sun Yong — Google review

What is amazing lake and I wish I stayed long time to try all the activities.I drove a boat which was new experience for me and I enjoyed it.Even walking around was cool.Behind it beautiful mountain that make the place like you are in heaven.

Osama Almatrafi — Google review

Beautiful Lake surrounded by mountains!Breathtaking views. I recommend visiting this amazing place, it is a very charming town, plenty things to do whole year round, not too far from ski resorts

Marz Mistry — Google review

Wonderful place! One of the most beautiful places I've ever seen! Great for a walk with views of the mountains. Good restaurants and exceptional architecture of the buildings.

Betina Quadros — Google review

Truly stunning. I will certainly be back for a longer stay! There are water activities to try and the little village town has a lot more shops and restaurants than I had expected! Come for no less than a full day because you will want to enjoy the leisurely lunch, do shopping and enjoy lake. The morning market is really good and the locals are very friendly compared to the rest of France. The region is famous for its dairy products.

alekskors — Google review

Such a beautiful lake and lovely walk around the streets of the old town. Well worth a visit if you're in the area 😁

Alana Williams — Google review

Such a beautiful lake with a magnificent view. You can enjoy a picnic with your loved ones while bathing in the lake or taking a sun bath. There is a good restaurant besides the lake but the number of food outlets can be increased to provide food at all times to the tourists.Apart from that, clear water, blue vibes and the pure environment just makes your day. ❤️

Ayushi Narayan — Google review

A lovely place to spend the day. So pretty and peaceful

Virginie Noro — Google review

Lake Annecy claims the Europe's most cleanest and clear lake! 😍 its such an amazing clear lake with a French Alps view 😍There are plenty of activities to do on the lake such as kayaking, swimming (the temperature maybe cold thus suggested to swim during summer) , pedal boat, etc.Must visit lake 👍🏻

The Abbaye de Talloires is a 17th-century lakeside hotel with a restaurant, wine cellar and piano bar. The setting is stunning and the food is great.

Amazing hotel with a gorgeous view on Lake Annecy. Great food in a beautiful restaurant. The private deck is amazing as well

tobias — Google review

Based on our experience at the restaurant and the spa, I would recommend seeking other establishments. The view is fantastic (directly over the lake), and the building itself is elegant in its ancient beauty, but the food was overall disappointing, and our reservation for 2 massages at the spa got lost, the staff apologized, but 50 minutes went by between the moment when we arrived at the spa and the moment we finally walked out, still waiting for the towels that were supposed to have been brought to us so that we could at least enjoy the facility (massages were rebooked for a later date). The staff was clearly stressed about a wedding they were hosting that day, and the stress was palpable for the guests. I think we will cancel the rebooked massages : the facility seemed small, and overall disappointing for a 4-star establishment.

Ariane Ville — Google review

It is really all about the location. Without the waterfront access it would be a fairly standard hotel. Nonetheless the pontoon directly on the lake is amazing. Our room looked like it was recently renovated but the friends we travelled with had a much smaller, dated room. The spa is small. Staff at the reception was OK. The breakfast was overpriced and the hotel restaurant was closed several evenings. The young guy serving at the outdoor bar was outstanding.

Tom Steffen — Google review

My husband and I had our wedding here a week ago. It was the most amazing venue! All of our guests were extremely pleased. Everyone’s stay was spectacular. We look forward to visiting very soon and highly recommend staying here and getting married here!

Adelaide Megard — Google review

About the hotel :Authentic , well preserved and charming. You Aube the impression of traveling back in time. The rooms are tiny .About the restaurant :The terrasse of restaurant is absolutely magnificent whether you are having breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is of great value and has an excellent choice of wines (bonus: reasonable wine prices). The sommelier (master of Porto) is amazing .FriendlyThe only «negative» is the setting inside the restaurant, it lacks space and some intimacy. There are only a few tables that are in front of the window which I can recommend - the rest of them are just not well positioned(Stayed there for a few nights in July 2022)

ICON catcher — Google review

A picturesque and historic 'Abbaye' on the lake of Annecy, gets 100% on location, location, location, but also they looked after us all extremely well. The food, service and accommodation are all top notch and our three nights there were wonderful in every respect. Thank you all so much! PS It was our son's wedding and it couldn't have been a more perfect occasion in the most magical and enchanting hotel.

Mark Hendriksen — Google review

Beautiful setting and great hotel. Food was delicious too except for the curry risotto. That is the only dish that was not appetising but 3 out 4 days food was amazing

Lakhmi — Google review

Had our wedding here - the staff and owner did an incredible job and helped make the experience unforgettable!

Shea Spencer — Google review

This is a superb location where we received exceptional service. The drinks ordered where made and served to perfection.

David Coats — Google review

Sep 23 A real place of contrasts. On the one hand an idyllic location and on the spot lake swimming. Wonderful. On the other hand a place with only one rather poor coffee machine for a (quite costly) breakfast is not really trying hard enough. The real problem is it's rather poor on the access for persons with mobility issues. A similar standing of hotel in the UK with similar listed status would do a lot better.Taken together, enjoyed our stay here but we won't be coming back.

Chris Warner — Google review

The most amazing hotel I’ve ever stayed in! Came here for a few days on our honeymoon and we fell in love. The staff were awesome, the views couldn’t be beat, and the hotel had so much history. We will be back very soon! The town is also very charming and located near many things, I would recommend making reservations for dinner. We came in the off season and it was really hard to get dinner due to things being fully booked

Alissa Tilly — Google review

Excellent weekend stay for a wedding. Superb location on lakeside. Good food and charming, helpful and knowledgeable staff.

Tim Thomas — Google review

Merci Merci Merci! One of our first overseas trips with our 6 month old and Abbaye de Talloires did not disappoint. The staff were extremely accommodating and understanding - they provided a cot and high chair. We loved spending the day on the lake enjoying the sunshine, water and views. In the evening we ate incredible food and delicious wine at the hotel - it was from a fairytale. Specially Sebastian was very helpful as we had to amend our dates. Thank you for the hospitality! Until next time.

Brooke Witt — Google review

Spent a very relaxing weekend at the Abbaye de Talloires, a short drive from Annecy. Very attentive service and friendly staff. A perfect place to rest and unplug, enjoy the Abbaye’s great facilities, gardens and take a dip in the lake, all within a very cosy and exclusive atmosphere. The restaurant facilities on location are very good, but the Abbaye is also close to a number of fine dinning establishments in the area. Well worth the stay.

Castles

The Château de Menthon-Saint-Bernard, which served as inspiration for Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty castle, offers seasonal guided tours by actors. The castle boasts a magnificent exterior that looks like it came straight out of a fairy tale. During the tour, visitors can learn about the family history while being entertained by guides dressed in Medieval costumes. The library exhibits books dating back to the 15th century and there is also a room showcasing the family coat of arms.

Very cool castle. Super enthusiastic tour guides. Unfortunately no other language options available. English pamphlet provided for free if you need it. Tour takes 45 minutes to an hour.

Patrick Hilderbrand — Google review

A true gem! This castle hosts a family to 23 generations long! They have inhabited the castle for over 1000 years, therefore it is one of the few castles in the world were you can truly see how medieval family's lived. Extremely well kept, an extraordinary experience! A must in Annecy

Carlos Cassano — Google review

Beautiful castle with over 10 centuries of history! Great tour guide (Remi). Every room is beautifully decorated. For Christmas they have a market and kid friendly activities. A must visit. Gorgeous views

H Court-Payen — Google review

Incredible viewpoint over Menthon village, the Annecy lake and the surrounding peaks. The castle tour excell in guides telling the family bio dressed in Medieval costumes. The best experience was the library showcasing books since 15th century and the room with the family coat of arms. The garden and the views are just exceptional.

Petar Tzenev — Google review

Château and grounds:Beautiful and very well kept. The views of the lake and mountains are stunning. You can walk around the grounds and enjoy time in the garden on a sunny day.Tour:It is only in French. Even when you inform the tour leader that half of the audience is English speaking, they don't switch or give any updates / snippets in English.

Bianca — Google review

That's an amazing place, very beautiful views by the way to the castle, very interesting exposition and a lot of pretty pictures)

????? ?????????? — Google review

Superb castle, in a superb state. From outside, from valley, close to the castle or from inside, there is no view nor angle that is not worth seeing. The path to the castle goes through the grapes, above the lake, in the middle of the mountains. That is splendid.

Antoine Becker — Google review

Amazing place. Vibrantly busy with community activities and views to die for.It was the setting for an unforgettable wedding reception.

Matthew Torvell — Google review

Beautiful and calm castle. The garden isn't very interesting, but it's a nice place to eat a picnic. The castle tour is very interesting (but please note that the guide speaks french).

Johan Skak — Google review

Château de Menthon is an amazingly beautiful medieval castle, located in the commune of Menthon-Saint-Bernard, 12 kilometres south of Annecy. The first fortress was erected in the 10th century, but the present buildings were constructed between the 13th and 19th centuries. This remarkable castle stands on a 200 metres tall rock, and it was listed as a monument historique by the French Ministry of Culture. The castle is opened for visits from April to November 11th but the interior of the castle is accessible only with a guide who speaks French or English.Bottom line: Very interesting and impresive site. You can find more information in the castle web-site: https://www.chateau-de-menthon.com/home.

Y.H. — Google review

Nice Chateau. Entry €11. You have to go around in a compulsory guided tour which takes an hour or so. Guide speaks in French only but English language pamphlets also available. The chateau rooms are small and tour groups are quite large so it feels a bit claustrophobic. Rooms are well furnished so it is interesting to see. The views of the lake are beautiful and almost worth the visit alone. Small cafe doing crepes and drinks, watch out for the ice cream as was full of flies on our visit. Also a small gift shop. Garden isn't really taken care of but there was no charge for entry. Free parking although the overspill parking we had to use was a bit of trek up the fill from the house itself. Worth a visit if you are in or around Annecy for sure!

Paul W — Google review

Extremely busy during the holiday season and despite the generous parking sometimes is still not enough. The castel is beautiful, well maintained and still family owned.

Mihai Stroe — Google review

Beautiful Castle with a lot of History. It's been in the family for centuries and they kept on enhancing and improving the castle with good maintenance. We had a great guided tour in English and saw many unique rooms with history and modern art. The castle has a panoramic view over the lake of Annecy and even has a shop for souvenirs as well as a little cafe. Great to spend 1,5-2hs of your afternoon. Back in the garden they keep peaco*ck's, fun to watch. There are also toilet facilities and free parking.

Philippe Laurijssen — Google review

Beautiful place, worth the visit especially if you have kids! It can get crowded and if you do not speak French you need to read a couple of things in advance to be able to enjoy the visit. Tip: do not park in the first parking place you meet, there is one bigger further up, next to the entrance of the castle.

Christina Fotinopoulou — Google review

Lovely castle with a wonderful view of the lake. The tour was in French but they answered our questions in English. The library was particularly stunning with books several hundred years old. Highly recommend!

Jaren Rogers — Google review

you can take bus or walk or drive to this castle. Beautiful garden with sightseeing view from balcon.I recommend to visit early in morning.

Waterfall

Nature & Parks

A modest trek with lake & mountain views leads to this sizable waterfall fed by 2 rivers.

Erg leuke wandeling! You just can't get here with a stroller or wheelchair. I will also not recommend going here with small children (<4 years). They say on the signpost that it is a 15 minute walk. My gut tells me it was half an hour. With a challenging road. Halfway there you have a bench with a very nice view! It is recommended that you wear walking shoes here!

bdebruin92 — Google review

The hike up is just as enjoyable as the view when you arrive.

Nicholas Wong — Google review

Quite a hike to get to the waterfall, but an amazing place with fabulous views along the way

Julian Sims — Google review

Leuke uitdagende wandeling. Often very slippery, so good shoes are a must. The trip is not very far/long, but because of the climbing it still takes quite some time. The walking path is indicated from the parking lot at the beginning of the street. Halfway on the way back from the waterfall you can also choose to go to a stream (ferry) on top of the waterfall. Only 300m further on. Can also be done with children.

Ivo Ramaekers — Google review

This was just incredible, it was a bit confusing trying to find the waterfall with quite a few different paths. But fortunately they lead to other very cool streams, bridges and the walk is so beautiful!!!!

Shardae Rakoto — Google review

Nice place

Shouvik Dhar — Google review

Incredible. One of the best waterfalls I've ever been to. Much more exhilarating than I'd imagined. Be careful on those wet slippery rocks. We cycled to the Route des Vignes at the bottom of the trail and walked up from there. It was fairly steep in places but took less than an hour.

John Fielding — Google review

We walked up from the Talloires parking lot. After a steep walk you arrive at the waterfall. The last part is smooth and it is useful to hold on to the fence or iron "rope". The pity is that you do not have a nice plateau so that you can view the waterfall quietly if several people are walking the route.

Irene — Google review

Leuke waterval, niet ver van Annecy. Laatste stuk is wat klauteren. Erg leuk. Met halverwege een mooi uitzicht op Chateau Duingt.(Translated by Google)Nice waterfall, not far from Annecy. The last part is a bit of a scramble. Very nice. With a beautiful view of Chateau Duingt halfway up.

Style and with lots of rocks, stairs, real climbing blown. The route is beautiful and overlooks the beautiful bay of Telloines. The signposts along the route seem well marked but are sometimes confusing. Lovely woodland walk with great views over the lake

Sue Warwick — Google review

Amazing views breath taking with an easy hike to reach!

Marah .o — Google review

Great place for a family friendly walk. Views across the lake from the summit and the view point just below it. The trails down to Talloires are steep and slippery and best avoided unless you're sure footed.

Tama Llama — Google review

What is not to love here? It's beautiful, lush, shady in summer, (and with a fine swimming spot, which you have to yourself if you arrive before 11am) rich in color in fall and winter. Mushroom hunting is pretty decent and there are some very fine views over the lake. Heavy storms bring down huge trees that occasionally block the paths, but are eventually chopped into sections and left to decompose add they should be. In the rainy months, on several occasions, I have had it all to myself.

Wendy Huntington Parker fa*ges — Google review

A great place for a short walk. The view from the top is awesome! We started from the top (near the golf place). The walk start with an uphill walk and then it is a very easy walk.It is a recommended shadowed walk in the woods.

Amazing ! Great food . Great service. Beautiful place with the Lac just in front of us! Magical moment.

Rose Van de Meren — Google review

Best restaurant I ever been to. And did a few other Michelin star. And this one clearly blew all my expectations.Everything was perfect. The staff was chill yet professional and funny. The dishes were perfectly balanced in terms of flavors, texture, presentation. And everything with local ingredients.I also really liked the wine pairing. It was only wines from around Savoie and with each we had a short description of where it came from and a history lesson!

Rémy-Christophe Schermesser — Google review

Wonderful brunch. Scrumptious chocolate cake. Interesting take on French toast with spices. Poached egg served without toast. A little haughty and pretentious for this small, cozy but not fancy, hotel, but that’s France.

Reda Sadki — Google review

An amazing place with a great service and great food, I have nothing less than extraordinary to qualify this place ! Congrats to all the team for the great works ! Keep fighting to maintain that level of service , it becomes very rare nowadays, specially since Covid

Had a fantastic dinner here right on the lake shores. Amazing wine list and regional produce perfectly cooked. Only point to improve would be to make sure the table and chairs are not full of insects and pollen when clients get seated under a tree.

Not worth visiting. The staff are very rude and not hospitable at all. They always claim that their restaurant and cafe are very busy, while every time we visited it only very few tables are occupied. I think that the only explanation is that the staff are too lazy to welcome and serve the guests.

The castle of Duingt on Annecy Lake is a beautiful and impressive structure, if you are looking for an excellent place to swim in the summer on the lake, this is one of the most beautiful beaches within the 40km long lake. The view from the lake is brilliant and picturesque!

The Pont des Amours is a picturesque wooden bridge dating back to the 16th century and later a cast iron bridge followed. Today, it features an arched steel arch bridge. Reportedly, if you kiss someone on this bridge you'll be united for life. It's located next to the Canal du Vasse and is perfect for engagement and wedding photos.

There are wonderful views from this bridge of the lake, the mountains, and the canal. There is a big park next to it, so taking a walk is an amazing choice. It is a great and favorite photo spot.

Beautiful place and picturesque spot when visiting Annecy. The bridge is a hot spot amazing place for photo taking of the beautiful mountains ⛰🏔🗻🏕🌋and lake to see everything from there. Oh my God I was so happy when I was there I just wish if I find Mr.Right there someone cute French guy who I could have a French 😘 with him on that bridge very romantic place to be there and have a special French kissing 😊

Shevan H — Google review

This love bridge, ordinarily crowded with instagrammers, is quiet during this part of the year. Although it would have been nice to get some sunlight in the water to bring out the crystal clarity of the lake water, it is nice too during Dec to capture monochrome, Robert Doisneau styled pictures by the lake.

Charles Lim — Google review

Very beautiful lake, water is so transparent that you can see the bottom of the lake.

??? (Manager Kong) — Google review

A little bridge with a nice view but gets more crowded thru the day. Come early to avoid the crowd. Also, I think that the bridge actually looks better from far than when you get on it.

Beautiful and picturesque spot when visiting Annecy. The bridge is a hot spot for photo taking of the beautiful mountains and lake. You'll have to stop by this spot. Great place to chill, have a picnic or have a run along the river. There are also 2 playgrounds on site and kids will definitely have a blast. You can rent a paddle boat as well but price seems pretty steep.

Kelvin CHIN — Google review

Had a beautiful view with a stunning atmosphere. I love walking under this bridge with a fresh air. Highly recommend this. You can find the swan 🦢 and the duck 🦆 when you walk belongs the lake. There are some people who buy the key of love, so I think that why they call “Love Bridge”. Near the lake of Annecy, this is one of the place you should visit and take the picture.

Nhat Minh — Google review

A beautiful and very instagrammable landscape

Sasha — Google review

This is not a review of the bridge exactly, but more of a review of the view of the lake and Annecy in general. We came on a beautiful sunny Friday afternoon and it seemed like nobody at all was working. Everybody was out in full force picnicking, playing on the lake, eating, swimming and just making a real day off the fabulous weather. 😁☀️ It's a beautiful lakeside town. To visit, the canals make it look like a cross between Venice and Amsterdam. Amsterdam. The old buildings are really quaint and there's even a market on Friday afternoons but it closes at 2:00 so get there early. I'll just say that there aren't enough public restrooms to accommodate all the tourists so it can be quite a bit of a challenge queueing for one.

Pont des Amours is a charming bridge located in the heart of Annecy, France. The bridge offers stunning views of the picturesque Lake Annecy and the surrounding Alps, making it a popular spot for tourists and locals alike. Walking across the bridge was a romantic experience, as the name 'Pont des Amours' suggests, and I enjoyed watching the swans swimming in the clear blue water below. The bridge is surrounded by beautiful gardens and parks, making it a perfect place to relax and take in the scenery. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to Pont des Amours to anyone traveling to Annecy, as it is a must-see attraction that captures the essence of this enchanting city.

Moe Emami — Google review

It's only a tiny and overcrowded bridge with a good view and an interesting story behind it, but otherwise nothing really special unless you believe in the legend of the love surrounding the bridge. Still a good place to drop by as part of visiting the park.

The Musée-Château d'Annecy is a museum in Annecy, France housing regional sculptures and paintings alongside contemporary art. The castle was formerly the home of the counts of Geneva, and during WWII it provided shelter to homeless families. Today, it is an art museum with stunning views over the terracotta rooftops of the town below. The Chateau d'Annecy crowns one of France's most beautiful castles with its medieval architecture.

One of these days I really need to pay for the full tour, but I am always so taken by the town and the lake that I want more time to explore. This is a great example of the old world though and I do enjoy walking up to and around the area.

Very interesting to see. Also wonderful views of Annecy. It's a very steep walk up to get here so not suitable for people with limited mobility. Also inside the museum there are many levels with many stairs, so not suitable for everyone. Very friendly and helpful staff that speak many languages.

We didnt go in but dropped by to take iconic pictures of the part of La Thiou canal sliced into half by the Musee building, which makes it look like the bow of a brick ship. Stare at it hard enough you might even think the building is sailing towards you!

The history of the castle and the compound was interesting, but the art exhibits were okay. Good if they can allow us to explore the building to learn more about the history or just to admire the architecture. Requires a short climb up the hill.

Very interesting visit. Don’t expect crazy historic place, but you will definitely enjoy your time exploring the rooms that have interesting amenities. Anthony Vella — Google review

The castle is nice, the views are great. The price is reasonable - 5.5 for the castle only a d a combined ticket is 8 euros. We went on a Sunday and it was calm and pleasant. I have to admit, we went with an American friend and we were surprised that everything is in French. Yes, we understand : en France on parle français, but this is a tourist attraction and we cannot expect that everyone on earth speaks French right :)

S. Leenders — Google review

I visited it today, it is a tourist attraction and they do not explain anything in English ! Peaople are coming from all over the world to see and wxplore the castle but all labels are just in French ! How would non- French speakers know more about the place ! That is unfair, i came by and did not understand any of the labels written, the only English labels were to inform us not to touch things ( THAT’s it ! ) can you imagine !!!!! Waste of time as u did not understand anything inside despite being interested in history and wanted to know more about every thing inside it . But to be fair enough the place is picturesque inside out .

Eman. S. — Google review

Different from other critics here I really liked the exhibition. But what really needs to be improved is the written explanations: most is only in French, but even if there are English translations, they are very small printed and positioned very low, so that it is almost impossible to read. Same in the 2 other museums included in the ticket. Obviously the international public is not really taken care for, which is quite a contrast to the modern and international context presented in the exhibitions.

Jan-Martin Lichte — Google review

The museum of Château d'Annecy was an amazing experience! First of all, a great exhibition of well-known artist-animator Theodore Ushev was held in the museum (I think it will last until the end of September), that I loved so much!!! I'll put some photos. Second, the permanent exhibition of the museum travelled me through the old ages of Annecy, its people, their lives, the history, the Comtes de Genève and many other stories. Great place and very well organized.

The Basilica of the Visitation, built in 1930 and located on a hilltop overlooking the historic center of Annecy, offers stunning city, lake and mountain views from its bells tower. The building is a neo-Romanesque structure with Mass and Vespers offered daily. The church is also open to the public for visits outside religious services. To access it requires an arduous hike from the Old Town, but views of the surrounding landscape make it well worth it.

I am not a fan of churches or any religious buildings, but it is nice place to visit

Walked all the way around the basilica until we reached it. Awe inspiring. It’s a newer church, but the craftsmanship of the church itself is nice. Inside the church is magical all it’s own. Mountains

La Tournette is a majestic mountain peak towering at an altitude of 7,700 feet in the French Alps. It offers awe-inspiring panoramic views of Lake Annecy and its surrounding areas from its summit. Accessible via a rough road that may resemble a tractor path, visitors can drive up to Restaurant Le Chalet de l'Aulp and save themselves 1.4 km of walking while starting at an elevation of 200 m above sea level.

Definitely a walk for experienced walkers. We went as a family but my parents (60yo competent walkers) got scared of the fog around halfway up and so turned around. However we carried on in quite cloudy conditions (you could always see where you were going, just not the view!). There’s a lot of scrambling/sliding. And to get to the peak is two ladders with quite a sheer drop (but they feel v sturdy!). Can imagine it’s quite spectacular on a clear day, but equally as accomplishing on a cloudy one too! Oh and there’s friendly mountain goats near the top too. Take lots of water/layers/food - temp drops around 10° from the car park to the peak. We did it quite quickly - around 4.5hours up and down including a lunch stop, but we ran all the downhill parts (signposted time is 4 hours just to the peak, maybe 2.5 extra to come down). We followed a route from alltrails but it’s also fairly well signposted all the way

Beautiful mountain to climb! If you love to hike, you should go to the top of this mountain. The trail is rough, so take it easy. On the map there are two ways to reach the top (from chalet d aulp) at le Casset the path is splitting, if you want to be challenged you can take the left one, but this is a very hard and sometimes a little dangerous way. The path to the right is more safe. To reach the plateau on top, you have to climb some ladders but it’s totally worth it!Parking is possible at pre-Verel (large) and at Col de Aulp (small)

Jitse Macdaniel — Google review

Wonderful! Great, challenging hikes are plentiful. Views are beautiful. Recommended to start a hike early if in summer.

Thomas van den Boezem — Google review

Amazing views, but quite a tough climb and descent. Significant exposure to falls, some chains broken and polished slippery rocks. Not recommended for anyone afraid of heights or younger/inexperienced children. You can no longer park at the restaurant unless you have a reservation, and the track to it is only suitable for 4x4 anyway. I'd suggest as early as possible to ensure parking, but more importantly to keep the climb in the shade as long as possible. Grippy shoes and poles recommended

La Tournette, a mountain in the Massif in Haute-Savoie, France located above and opposite beautiful Lake Annecy where is mostly calm and considered to be quite warm comparing to mountains lakes, great for water activities (i was on the sap all week). Great hikes all around, these photo's are from the Tournette, where you drive to one of the villages under,(Montmin for ex.) it isn't easy to find the closest parking spot to start the hikes, we had to drive around small and narrow streets, but 3 times hiking and 3 times I found it at the end. The hike itself isn't too hard, we did start with a 1 hour steep descent, but the view of the Mont Blanc Ridge from up was just amazing, and lake Annecy of course. 1 hour drive from Geneva, Swiss.

Liran K — Google review

This is a different beautiful walk that offers you an incredible view of the scenery around lake Annecy. You can start your walk from Restaurant Le Chalet de l'Aulp and follow the well worn path up the route. Along the route there are many marks on the rocks to help you find your way

Shea Jackman — Google review

Amazing view over Lac Annecy and the area around. Google maps says you can drive to Restaurant Le Chalet de l'Aulp and you can. But we the last part from Refuge du Pre Vèrel are rough and can look like a road for tractor. But if you can reach the top restaurant you will save 1.4 km walking and start 200 m higher over sea level. The walking up are tough but you need time, water, some food and clothes if the weather change. The shoes should also be good for hiking.

Points of Interest & Landmarks

Located near the Canal du Thiou, Église Notre Dame de Liesse was completed in 1851 and is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It has become a sanctuary where the counts of Geneva buried their families. The church features a 16th-century clock tower and Gothic stained glass windows from the 15th century, adding to its beauty and historical significance.

The church seems preserved in its original form but does not seem to be well maintained. Requires a huge amount of refurbishment. The floors are wooden, therefore they will creek as you walk through the aisle. The stained glass windows seem to be in a decent condition but it's sad to see that the paintings on the walls and dome ceiling has deteriorated significantly.

Notre-Dame is a Catholic Church in downtown Annecy, in the main shopping street. On this place a previous Church stood until the French Revolution when it was demolished. Only the bell tower survived dating back to 14 c, while the rest was rebuilt in 19 c. Interiors are very spacious and nice.

Dejan Braki — Google review

BEWARE of the false deaf mutes that make you sign a paper on the door so that you give them money. They are crooked thieves. Very nice church.

Jon?s P?rez — Google review

Lovely setting for a candle lit piano recital, but church pews were uncomfortable after a while.

Teak Builder — Google review

The church was built between 1846 and 1851 on the site of a very damaged primitive sanctuary of which certain elements have been preserved: the 14th century bell tower and a Gothic window on the south wall. In front of the church, there is a large square, surrounded by cafés and shops, called "Notre-Dame". In 1859 the town council installed an obelisk fountain with lions and turtles.

The Ermitage de Saint-Germain-sur-Talloires, located near Talloires, offers a breathtaking panorama that can be reached through a quick yet challenging hike. This peaceful spot is hailed as one of the finest serene locations in the vicinity of the lake, with an enjoyable vantage point along the ascent at la Forclaz. The views from this religious site are truly remarkable and leave visitors in awe of its sheer beauty.

Simply elegant. You can take a car to get here, however my friend and I decided to walk up from Taillores. The walk was short very steep but well worth it, to see this magnificent site both the church as well as the landscape.

Camping La Ferme offers a variety of accommodation options including cottages, mobile homes, and tent sites in a picturesque setting with two pools. It is known for its great value and high quality. The campsite has all the necessary amenities and the cleanliness of the shared bathrooms is commendable. The staff at the campground are very friendly and the restaurant serves delicious food at affordable prices. While teenagers may find the swimming pool less exciting, it is perfect for families with young children.

Wij hebben 3 nachten op deze camping doorgebracht.Locatie prima. Super bedankt camping La Ferme voor deze goede service.(Translated by Google)We spent 3 nights at this campsite.Location fine. So that was the sound we had heard the last 10 kilometers before arrival but had not been able to trace. One bolt was already off and the rest was very loose that they must have been driven off on the way. They helped us fantastically at the reception. An employee immediately came with tools to tighten the other bolts and check the rest of the wheels. Thank you very much to La Ferme campsite for this good service.

Nice little camping place with clean toilets and a nice view of the mountains close by. It has a little restaurant and bar to go along a simple but cozy pool area.To Scandinavians who are used to wearing long swim shorts, this is not the place for you. As many other camping places in France 🇫🇷 , you are only allowed to use the pool wearing "certified" swim wear, which of course means tight and very short, almost small underwear size swim wear. Use the lake instead.

Jacob Jensen — Google review

OK campsite. The comfort pitches are very large. The toilets could have been cleaner and the toilet buildings had a shabby feel to them.Nice view to the mountains, but not to the lake.2 major downsides to this campsite: No wifi and there is no grosery store close by.

Andrew Brindley — Google review

Only booked for 4 nights, but we liked it so much we decided to stay for 7 Reception staff were first class. The site was exactly what we needed. If being ultra picky, the mattress was a little too hard on the queen bed, the air con didn’t reduce the temperature sufficiently ( both personal choice only), plus we hadn’t appreciated that we needed to be present in the cottage when we checked out ( maybe we missed that at arrival) Other than that, the whole week was perfect and I would love to think that we will return. Thank you very much !

A camping with a excellent price/quality ratio. Me and my partner (both 25years) camped with a tent at a nice location between apple trees, all facilities are present and the hygenic of the sanitary is good in common! The staff of the camping is very friendly and the restaurant serves very good food for a low price. For family with teenagers I think the swimming pool is a bit boring, but for a family with small kids it is excellent! The campsite is a bit far from the lake so we went by car to the beach, parking cost are low, €6,- for a dayticket.I would suggest this camping if one asks me!

Mooie camping. There was a lot of nuisance from barking dogs, which sometimes also made noise at night. In addition, the swimming pool and moorings may be renovated. Nice friendly site Situated roughly 1km from the Lake with easy access by bike to the Lake bike track and beaches. We had a large pitch for our motorhome with electric and water on pitch. Lovely restaurant and bar on site and all the staff were very friendly, also small shop on site selling most basic essentials including fresh bread and croissants every morning. Main toilet block was really clean and never too busy, a couple of older small toilet blocks that were very dated but we didn't use these. We would certainly return when in Annecy again

Discover one of the top attractions around Annecy by embarking on a day trip to Talloires, a charming lakeside town located on the eastern side of the lake. Easily accessible by bus from Annecy, this small town offers an idyllic setting for relaxation and outdoor activities. One can even opt for renting a bicycle to enjoy a leisurely ride. The Plage Municipale de Talloires is particularly renowned as a favorite spot among visitors.

It’s a great place for a swim in blue water with a great view of the alps all around.Caution it gets deep very quickly so it could be dangerous for people who don’t know how to swim. Also at about 3-4m deep you stop seeing the bottom, because of all the minerals in the water.

Sorin Careba — Google review

Our favourite spot around the lake so far!! We spent all day here. Even though it was a Saturday we easily found a space for all 10 of us. There are quite a few trees offering shade if needed. The kids never stopped…. Diving boards, water slide, volleyball court, paddling pool, table tennis. We were able to hire life vests for our non confident swimmers from the kayak place and there were also several life guards on duty. The snack bar offers basic snacks (hotdogs, chips, pizza etc) plus cold drinks to enjoy. We had a blast.

Clean, & beautiful :) Really lovely park we definitely need more. The park is mostly grass. There is a drop down at the lake, kinda like a concrete pool. There are no rocks or sand leading up to it (not like american beaches). A great place for picnics.

Stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains, crystal water, shade and sun, space for ball games, shall pools for kids, deptg for diving from the 3m spring board. The only bad points - parking can be a pain and so can the volume of people. So go off peak times if possible.

I went there with my 2 kids (aged 12 and 10) and am really happy we did. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the equipment in very good condition. It's in the middle of the forest, so a little adventurous for driving, but not problematic, just plan in some extra 5 minutes for the forest road.

Joachim Wolfgang Kaltz — Google review

We had an amazing time! Not only were the staff super helpful, friendly, and welcoming- they truly went above and beyond. We loved the views over Annecy from the ropes course, and wanted to spend more time there! The Grand Course was the perfect length to push us without complete physical exhaustion. At the end of the day we had planned on taking an Uber home, but had complications. We began to walk down the mountain, when our savior volunteered to drive us back to town. This worker, whose name we forgot to ask, was so kind as to take us and was incredibly friendly and we loved the time with him just as much as our journey in the mountain! This is a must see Ropes-Course, and the people are simply amazing. Worth every penny!!!

When visiting Annecy, one of the most exhilarating activities to partake in is a tandem paragliding flight with Aeroslide - Paragliding Annecy. This sports school offers an incredible experience that you will cherish forever. Their team of professionals is both skilled and enjoyable to be around, ensuring your comfort throughout the journey up the hill and in the air. With exceptional pilots and extraordinary staff, Aeroslide provides a paragliding tour that is unparalleled.

When in Annecy, one of the most awesome things to do has to be a tandem parapente flight. We had been looking forward to this event for months. And what an amazing experience it was. One of those things that you experience once in a lifetime… or at least the first time around (we might just get hooked). The equipe of Aeroslide immediately made us feel at ease, was both professional and great fun to be with, during the ride up the hill and up in the air. Thanks Aeroslide for making this an experience we’ll never forget!

Daar bedanken we jullie wel voor.(Translated by Google)I would prefer to give them 5 stars. What a great experience. But watch out. They take your time. Because you have no sense of time at all, they can be down again after a short time. You pay a lot of money for what you didn't get. As soon as you talk to them about it, they are suddenly not so friendly anymore. Fortunately we were able to prove it because someone was taking pictures above and someone was taking pictures on landing. We ended up paying less. But this was very unfortunate. So pay attention to that.Peetje van de KampI would very much like to comment on Aeroslide's response. We really want to inform people that they should keep an eye on the time you pay for. We are sure that the time was much too short because we as parents were at the top and the time from jumping to landing where my son and girlfriend were waiting for her was 10 minutes in total. Fortunately, we have the technology to see the evidence of the times through the photos and videos. We wanted to show you that, but we didn't have to. It couldn't be clearer for us. That doesn't change the fact that Tom is a great pilot who gave our daughter a fantastic experience. We do thank you for that.

Let daarop!(Translated by Google)It was super nice, very nice people, everything explained well. Only I had paid for 20-30 minutes. In the end I was only in the air for 10 minutes. But you have no sense of time. I was lucky that someone took pictures upstairs and downstairs. Lakeside zone with a gently sloping descent into the water, plus beach volleyball & picnic tables.

Absolutely lovely lakeside, green grass, turquoise water and a bar with drinks and hot food. Parking varies, but you can either park on the “peage one or you can download the app. There was a walk to the waterfall, just minutes from the beach but the trail is quite a challenge. Quite vertical but worth it for the view. Not recommended to people with underlined heath problems.

Great beach with toilets, trees for shade and grassy areas with benches. Can be incredibly busy and crowded. The kiosk shop charges excessively high prices 18.50 for 4 ice lollies and a lemonade. No receipt and shortchanged me as well - be warned.

It was a very beautiful place with beach. There is a direct bus 60 from Annecy Train station. It takes aproxx 40 to 45 minutes to reach this place. The view is very beautiful. The lake, waves, mountains. It’s so wonderful. It’s a good place to sit, relax, spend beautiful and memorable moments with friends, family or even being alone. This place is the must visit place for anyone coming to Annecy. While on the bus from Annecy station to Plage d’Angon, you will see many beautiful views. The mountains, the beautiful houses, fresh and green. Will visit this place again.
