Read the excerpt from chapter 17 of The Awakening.
[Mrs. Pontellier] was somewhat familiar with such scenes. They had often made her very unhappy. On a few previous
occasions she had been completely deprived of any desire to finish her dinner. Sometimes she had gone into the
kitchen to administer a tardy rebuke to the cook. Once she went to her room and studied the cookbook during an
entire evening, finally writing out a menu for the week, which left her harassed with a feeling that, after all, she had
accomplished no good that was worth the name.
The excerpt best demonstrates which emerging theme?
Women can feel a great deal of pressure to conform to society's expectations of female duties.
Women who have the assistance of a cook are still responsible for the outcome of the food preparations.
Women can only be happy if they perceive themselves as successful at fulfilling their domestic duties.
Women who are expected to perform specific domestic duties should have access to reliable resources.

Answers

Answer: women should be provided with suitable resources to fulfill their duties

Explanation:

1.Read the below except from the Preface written by Elie Wiesel about his memoir Night and then respond to the question that follows.

…The topic of Auschwitz has become part of mainstream culture. There are films, plays, novels, international conferences, exhibitions, annual ceremonies with the participation of the nation’s officialdom. The most striking example is that of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C.; it has received more than twenty-two million visitors since its inauguration in 1993.
This may be because the public knows that the number of survivors is shrinking daily and is fascinated by the idea of sharing memories that will soon be lost. For in the end, it is all about memory, its sources, and its magnitude, and, of course, its consequences.
For the survivor who chooses to testify, it is clear: his duty is to bear witness for the dead and for the living. He has no right to deprive future generations of a past that belongs to our collective memory. To forget would be not only dangerous by offensive; to forget the dead would be akin to killing them a second time.
Sometimes I am asked if I know “the response to Auschwitz”; I answer that not only do I not know it, but that I don’t even know if a tragedy of this magnitude has a response. What I do know is that there is “response” in responsibility. When we speak of this era of evil and darkness, so close and yet so distant, “responsibility” is the key word.
The witness has forced himself to testify. For the youth of today, for the children who will be born tomorrow. He does not want his past to become their future.

In these final thoughts from the preface precluding his memoir Night, Elie Wiesel talks about memories and trying to understand Auschwitz. What are your thoughts about the above excerpt in context with a theme you observed at work in the novel? Write a response of no less than three paragraphs explaining how the above excerpt introduces and supports a theme you identified in the novel. Make sure to use textual evidence from the novel to support your answer. (25 points)

Standard English here means writing English in its proper manner, tenses and generally accepted way of writing.

Business leaders make use of jargon when they are talking performance results or branding.

These jargons could include ASAP, Big bang for the buck, competitive advantage, etc.

Jargon are special words or phrases that are used by a profession or group that is unique to them and not easily understood by others not in that profession or group.

Narrative and Lyric Poetry
Poetry has been around for centuries. Most often poetry is used when someone is down or when someone wants to show his or her love to someone else. Poetry is basically language condensed for artistic effect. Two types of poetry are narrative poetry and lyric poetry. Narrative poetry tells a story, a particular event, or happening, it often relates to a long story. Lyric poetry is any fairly short poem in which the speaker expresses intense personal emotion or state of mind.

Narrative and lyric poetry may seem like they are similar, but there is a big difference between the two. An example for narrative poetry is the poem Confession by Bruce Lansky. In the poem he confesses about what he has done wrong. An example for lyric poetry is the song Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton. In the song,Vanessa sings about her feelings about how much she needs and misses the person she states as ‘you’.

The poem Confession by Bruce Lansky is a narrative poem because he tells his story about what he did do instead of what he was supposed to do. He starts out by saying “I have a brief confession that I would like to make.” By reading this first line the reader automatically can assume that this will be a narrative poem. As the poem goes own he tells about everything he did that day. This is a narrative poem because he tells about his life and everything he did.

Alvarenga 2
The song Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton is a lyric poem. In Vanessa’s song she pours out her emotions over the person she sings about. Vanessa’s feelings are expressed by the lines “ And I need you, and I miss you...”. This here explains how much she misses this person. Vanessa also talks about how she would even walk a thousand miles to see this person. From this it is understood that this song Thousand Miles is a lyric poem because Vanessa expresses her feelings over her love.

Narrative poetry tells a story just like the poem Confession by Bruce Linsky, thats why this poem is a type of narrative poetry. Lyric poetry expresses emotional feelings, and so the song Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton is a type lyric poetry. Poetry is a beautiful form of language and is used everyday to give someone a smile or even shed a tear.

Narrative Poetry that conveys a story usually refers to a lengthy tale, a specific event, or other occurring. Any relatively brief poem in which the speaker expresses a strong, personal emotion or state of mind is referred to be lyric poetry.

What is Narrative Poetry?

The entire story is typically written in metered verse, and narrative poetry is a type of poetry that tells a story by frequently using the voices of both a narrator and characters. Rhyme is not necessary for narrative poetry. These poems can be brief or long, and the story they are based on might be complicated.

In narrative poems, the complete narrative is told from start to finish by a single narrator. One of the main types of poetry is narrative poetry, which differs from lyric poetry by emphasizing plot over emotion. In actuality, there is a blending of these two forms of poetry: lyric parts are frequently incorporated into narrative poems, and vice versa.

Therefore a longer type of poetry known as a narrative poem which tells a whole story with a beginning, middle, and end. Characters, plot, conflict, and resolution are all characteristics of a fully developed story.

Which story premise most clearly contains a supernatural element

Answers

Answer:

B.

Explanation:

The answer to this is "B. Dr. Weatherford hopes for some good luck as she gets ready to do surgery." This is because all of the other options have a cause and effect produced by actual events and/or human individuals. Dr. Weatherford relying on luck (which is a phenomenon or superstition) opens the door for many different supernatural elements to appear centerfold in the story. Even "Every time a certain church bell rings, something terrible happens to Guy" is a cause and effect since the church bell acts as a signal for someone else to do something terrible to another individual.

The story premise that most clearly contains a supernatural element is Option A: every time a certain church bell rings, something terrible happens to Guy.

Which story premise most clearly contains a supernatural element?

In this premise, the ringing of a specific church bell is associated with unfortunate events befalling a character named Guy. The supernatural element is implied by the cause-and-effect relationship between the bell ringing and the occurrence of these terrible incidents, suggesting a supernatural force or curse at play.

This premise introduces an intriguing mystery and sets the stage for exploring the supernatural realm within the story. The Option A is correct.
