How to Make

To make these, add canola oil to a heavy bottomed pot or dutch oven, until it’s about 1/2″ deep.

Heat the oil over medium heat until it’s hot and shimmery, between 375-400°.

When the oil’s ready, carefully place 3-4 thawed, unwrapped Uncrustables in the pot.

Cook them for about a minute, until they are golden brown.

Once they are golden, carefully flip them to cook for about a minute on the other side.

Using a wire strainer spoon, carefully remove the fried Uncrustables to a paper towel lined plate to rest and drain off excess oil.

Repeat, as needed, until you’ve fried your desired amount.

Allow them to cool significantly, until just slightly warm.

Then, sprinkle them with powdered sugar and serve!

Enjoy!

Can Uncrustables be Air Fried?

Yes!

You can air fry these and skip the oil altogether.

If you air fry them, you don’t have to defrost them first.

Simply remove them from the packaging, and place 2-3 in your air fryer.

Be careful not to over crowd the basket.

Cook them at 390 degrees F for 8 minutes, flipping half way through.

Dipping Options

These are delicious as is, but amazing dunked into all kinds of dips.

Dipping options include:

  • peanut butter dip
  • pancake syrup
  • warm Nutella
  • vanilla yogurt

Tips and Tricks

  • BE CAREFUL when biting into your fried Uncrustables and let them cool. Right out of the oil the insides will be like hot lava. If in doubt, break them in half before enjoying to really be sure the filling is warm, but not dangerous.
  • DO NOT fry frozen Uncrustables. You must thaw them first! Water and oil do not mix, and this simple step will prevent significant potential splattering.
  • Don’t like PB & J or just want some variety? The Uncrustables brand has three other flavors that would each make delicious substitutes: peanut butter & honey, strawberry peanut butter, or Nutella.
  • If you aren’t familiar with frying foods, you may want to use a thermometer to test your oil before frying.
  • Don’t like powdered sugar or want a sweeter treat? These can also be sprinkled with, or dredged in, a mixture of cinnamon & sugar.
